New patrol for downtown Konzer

In recent months there has been increased littering, graffiti and disturbances in the inner city of Konz. Suspected bullying was also reported to the regulatory office. Therefore, from July 2023, a private security company (Atlas Sicherheit) will be on the road in the city area on behalf of the Konz municipality to respond to residents' complaints and strengthen their sense of security.

The employees of the new patrol, dressed in black uniforms, support the public order office, which has previously carried out ad hoc checks. However, a long-term control by the regulatory authority is not possible due to the staffing.

Therefore, at the end of May, the main and finance committee of VG Konz decided to get support from a private company. Staff will initially work in the afternoons and evenings until the end of October to ensure public order, minimize complaints and prevent vandalism. The controls will focus on the Saar-Mosel-Platz, the Saarterrassen and the Maierspark.

If violations are detected, there is a risk of administrative offense proceedings and, if necessary, a ban on parking.
