Saar-Upper Moselle

Relaxation in the border triangle

The Saar-Upper Moselle region is located in western Rhineland-Palatinate, just outside the city of Trier and in the middle of the border triangle of Germany, France and Luxembourg. The Saar and Moselle rivers meet here and shape a unique landscape. The Saar-Upper Moselle region is equally popular with cyclists and hikers, because there are numerous cultural sights and excellent wines to discover in addition to a picture-book landscape.

The picturesque landscape is shaped by the rivers Saar and Moselle, which flow together in Konz after a long journey. The region is richly equipped with sights and there is something new to discover around every bend in the river. This region offers numerous offers, attractions and sights that are of interest to tourists and locals alike.

The Saar-Upper Moselle region is always well known among wine lovers. On the steep slate slopes of the Saar, the Saar Riesling, which is one of the best internationally, grows in well-known vineyards. On the gentle slopes along the Upper Moselle, on the other hand, the shell limestone soils offer the ideal terroir for the Elbling rarity as well as for Burgundy and red wine vines.
