Expansion of the Konz-Krettnach through road begins

The State Office for Mobility (LBM) Trier announces that the expansion of the Konz-Krettnach through road will begin on Monday, February 21, 2022.

The construction project is a joint project of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, the Konz municipal works and the city of Konz, district of Krettnach, with a total volume of 3,285,000 euros.

The state of Rhineland-Palatinate is investing an amount of around EUR 1,730,000 for the renewal of the approximately 715m long state road. The municipal utilities in Konz are simultaneously renewing parts of the water supply and sewage lines, including the associated house connections and supply lines, with a further order value of around EUR 604,000.

On behalf of the city of Konz, the sidewalks on both sides, including the street lighting and the existing bus stops, are renewed or produced at a cost of around EUR 840,000 for the necessary civil engineering work plus lampposts.

Together with the aforementioned civil engineering work, the canal of the Niedermenniger creek crossing the state road between the confluence of Krettnacherstraße and the confluence of Flurstraße is being rehabilitated jointly by the state and city at a cost of around EUR 112,000.

In addition, further work on the existing power supply lines and the broadband supply will be carried out on a separate order by the service providers Westnetz/innogy in the same period. In addition, there are adjustments to the cable systems of Deutsche Telekom.

The contractor is the consortium of the companies L. Elenz GmbH & Co. KG from Konz and Köhler Strassenbau GmbH & Co. KG from Trier.

The construction project is divided into a total of three consecutive construction phases. Due to the narrow lane widths and the extensive civil engineering and line-laying work, a complete closure is unavoidable.

The forthcoming 1st construction phase extends from the intersection of Hauptstraße and Karlstraße up to and including the junction with Krettnacherstraße over a length of 320 m.

Adjacent to this is the 2nd construction phase, starting at Krettnacherstraße until just before the junction with St. Ursula Straße / Landesstraße 139 over a length of 265 m.

In the further course, construction phase 3 will be built over a length of 130 m up to the end of the town (towards Obermennig).

The detour is signposted on site and takes place via district road 136 onto the L138 in the direction of Obermennig and vice versa. For the blocking of the junction L138/L139 in the third construction phase, the detour from the federal highway 268 via K6/K135 direction Niedermennig and also further via K136 Kommlingen to Oberemmel and vice versa. For more information and details on the detour route, please see the Mobility Atlas RLP at verkehr.rlp.de.

Road users (in particular through traffic) are asked to take the signposted detour.

Residents are asked to coordinate unavoidable deliveries, etc. with the civil engineering companies on site at an early stage.

The overall execution, including the subsequent construction phases, is expected to last until the end of 2023.

Those involved in the expansion would like to thank the road users affected for their patience and understanding.
