If a passport is unlikely to be handed over in time for the first use, the passport must be applied for in the express procedure. If the passport cannot be handed over in the express procedure (production time 3-4 working days) in time for the first use, a provisional passport must be issued.

Since 01.11.2007, when applying for an e-passport by persons who have reached the age of 6, additional fingerprints are taken from the applicant, which are stored in the integrated chip of the e-passport.

When picking up your passport, you can be represented with a power of attorney.
Your old passport or temporary passport must be presented and validated upon receipt of the new document.

Necessary documents

• ID card, old passport or old provisional passport, if no identification document can be presented, a birth certificate or marriage certificate is required
• a current biometric-compatible passport photo
• If you apply before the age of 18, one of your parents must also sign the application. Because of the need to sign, you must appear in person when submitting the application. The minor must be present when the application is made. In addition, the written consent to the application for the identity document of the other parent must be presented together with a copy of their identity card. (Declaration of consent see p.
