Broadband supply in the VG Konz
In the past few years, since 2008, funding procedures have been carried out for individual local communities and districts in order to enable fiber optics to be supplied to the distributors (Konz-Roscheid V). The badly supplied places like Wawern, Oberbillig Pellingen, Temmels, Konz-Tälchen, Kommlingen, Konz-Oberemmel were expanded partly with and partly without funding.
In 2016, the tasks were transferred from the local communities to the Konz association and then to the District of Trier-Saarburg , which included the expansion of all connections that showed less than 30 Mbit/s in the download. All households in the district and thus also in the Konz municipality have been expanded with at least 50 Mbit/s.
At the same time, some commercial operations that were not supplied were also expanded via a separate application for funding.
The next expansion stage is the so-called gigabit expansion, which is intended to bring fiber optics into every house and has bandwidths of up to 1,000 Mbit/s. For this purpose, the entire database was checked by the association of municipalities in October 2021.
Some communities will be supplied without funding through self-sufficient expansion. others must then participate in the next funding programs.

Measures for the future are:
- 2022: Expansion of part of the core city of Konz by Deutsche Telekom AG
- 2022: Expansion of the OG Oberbillig by the German fiber optics
Further expansions are planned in Tawern, Temmels, Wawern, Kanzem and Wiltingen.
