If you cannot find your identity card or you have lost it, you must report the loss to the identity card authority.
You can apply for a new identity card at the same time.

- German within the meaning of Art. 116 Para. 1 Basic Law (GG)
What documents are required?
- loss notice
- valid (child) passport or birth certificate
- for children under the age of 16, the consent (declaration) of the legal guardian
- if there is only one legal guardian, proof of custody is also required
- a passport photo suitable for biometrics (according to the photo template)
What fees apply?
- EUR 37.00 for applicants aged 24 and over
- EUR 22.80 for applicants under the age of 24
- EUR 22.80 for the first identity card for children and young people (applicants under the age of 24)
- EUR 10.00 for the provisional identity card
- EUR 13.00 surcharge (outside office hours, for non-responsible authorities)
- EUR 30.00 surcharge for issue by consular or diplomatic representation abroad
- Fee reduction or waiver possible for those in need (at the discretion of the ID card authority)
