landlord confirmation

  • service description

Since the Federal Registration Act (BMG) came into force on November 1st, 2015, if you move into a new apartment, you will need confirmation from your landlord that you have moved in. You must present this to the responsible registration authority each time you register.

The landlord is usually the owner of the apartment. However, it can also be the property management commissioned by the owner or, if you live as a sublet, the main tenant of the apartment.

The landlord confirmation must contain the following information:

    • Name and address of the landlord
    • Name and address of the owner (if he/she is not the landlord himself/herself)
    • address of the apartment
    • Names of all persons who move into the apartment and are therefore subject to registration
    • Move-in date, i. H. of the respective reportable process
  • procedure

You will receive the landlord confirmation from your landlord. The registration authority responsible for you has a form ready for this. The landlord's confirmation must be signed personally by the landlord.

  • What deadlines do I need to consider?

The landlord is obliged to issue the confirmation no later than two weeks after moving in.

If the landlord refuses to issue the confirmation or if you are unable to receive the confirmation for other reasons, you must inform the responsible registration authority immediately.
