Services

of the municipal administration Konz

change residence

  • service description

If you move, you must register at your new place of residence.

For children up to the age of 16, the registration must be made by the person whose home the children are moving into. If necessary, the consent of the legal guardian is required.

  • procedure

To register, you must fill out and sign the officially prescribed registration form. You must submit this personally or appoint another suitable person to submit it.

Depending on what the municipality has to offer, you can refrain from filling out the registration form and receive the data directly if you go to the responsible office in person. You must then confirm the correctness of the data by signing a printout.

Family members and members of a civil partnership should use a registration form together if they move from a shared apartment to a new shared apartment on the same day.

Once you have registered, you will receive a confirmation of registration.

If the competent authority at your new place of residence has opened up Internet access for registration, you can also transmit the required information using a qualified electronic signature via this access.

You cannot use this service if you

    • move from abroad or
    • use a pseudonym in your electronic signature instead of your name.

In these cases you must register as described above.

  • What documents are required?

    • Identity card or passport if the person subject to registration has reached the age of 16
    • Personal documents of the family members, which are reported together on a registration form
      • for children: children's passport or birth certificate

The registration authority may request the submission of further documents that serve to prove the information (e.g. birth certificate, marriage certificate, divorce decree).

  • What fees apply?

    No

If you do not comply with your obligation to re-register or do not do so in good time, you are committing an administrative offense that can be punished with a fine.

  • legal basis

  • What else should I know?

In order to be able to vote in an election in the municipality, you must have lived in the municipality for at least three months and be entitled to vote. If you register with a municipality with your main place of residence, you will automatically be entered in the electoral roll for the next upcoming election or vote. Special features apply to the European elections for foreign Union citizens.
