City Cycling 2024: Cycling for the climate and health

Whether it's commuting to work, shopping or visiting friends - which journeys can we make in everyday life by bike instead of by car? The international "CITY CYCLING" campaign by the Climate Alliance network draws attention to this question.

The Konz municipality is also participating again this year – in cooperation with the Trier-Saarburg district. 1 to 21 May 2024 All citizens are called upon to cycle as many kilometers as possible.

In addition to protecting the climate, the aim is to promote cycling in the region and, last but not least, to encourage people to do something for their own health. Those interested should be motivated to make many everyday journeys by bike.

To “collect” the kilometers, you must register on the STADTRADELN platform at www.stadtradeln.de/landkreis-trier-saarburg necessary. Those interested can then cycle with the Konz collective municipality team, which is open to everyone. Or they can register their own group.

With the free STADTRADELN app, participants can easily track the routes they cycle via GPS and credit them directly to their team and municipality. Alternatively, the routes can also be added via the internet platform.

Using the RADar! citizen participation platform, participants can also report potholes, suddenly ending cycle paths or confusing traffic routing to their administration.

The official, nationwide launch of the STADTRADELN campaign on May 1st this year will take place at the Porta Nigra in Trier.
