service descriptionas dangerous dogs The following breeds apply in Rhineland-Palatinate, § 1 paragraph 2 of the state law on dangerous dogs (LHundG) from December 22, 2004 are finally listed.
dogs of breeds
- Pit bull terrier
- American Staffordshire Terriers
- Staffordshire Bull Terrier
- and dogs descended from any of these breeds
are according to § 1 paragraph 2 of the above law dangerous dogs within the meaning of paragraph 1.
In addition, dangerous dogs are:
- Dogs proven to be vicious
- Dogs that have shown through their behavior that they chase or tear game or cattle,
- Dogs that have jumped at people in an aggressive or dangerous manner, and
- Dogs that have developed a willingness to fight, aggressiveness, sharpness or other qualities that go beyond the natural level.
permission
Permission is required to keep the dog breeds listed under the heading "Dangerous Dogs". For these dangerous dogs, a written application for permission to keep the dangerous dog must be submitted to the competent authority.
conditions for keeping
There must be a legitimate interest in keeping a dangerous dog,
- the applicant must have the expertise required to keep a dangerous dog and be at least 18 years of age
- There must be no facts justifying the assumption that the applicant does not have the reliability required to keep a dangerous dog
- liability insurance § 4 paragraph 2 must be proven.
Muzzle and leash obligation
According to the above-mentioned law, dangerous dogs must be on a leash outside of the fenced property and in apartment buildings on access roads, in stairwells and corridors as well as in other rooms shared by the household, must wear a muzzle to prevent biting and may only be led by persons who do so Have reached the age of 18. The local regulatory authority can permit exceptions to the muzzle requirement if, in individual cases, there is no risk to public safety.

administrative offences
A fine of up to 10,000 euros can be imposed for intentional or negligent violations of the provisions of the state law on dangerous dogs (§ 10 LHundG) .

To register your dog for the dog tax, please contact the respective tax office of the municipal administration responsible for you.
