The death certificate is a document that certifies the death of a person.
You can obtain the application for issuing a death certificate as

- Ancestors and descendants of the deceased person or
- Siblings with legitimate interest and
- close relatives with a legal interest, for example through a letter from the probate court
You can submit the application at any registry office. The application is issued by the registry office that maintains the registry.
The death certificate contains the following data about the deceased person:
- the first names and the surname, birth name,
- place and day of her birth,
- the last place of residence and marital status,
- the first names and surname, birth name of the spouse or life partner,
- Place and time of death.
The death certificate can be important, for example, for:
- the burial and its preparation, for example for the coffining and transfer,
- the estate administration and
- the use of statutory or private insurance benefits.

What fees apply?
Issuing a death certificate or a certified copy of the register costs 15.00 euros; the second and each additional copy requested and produced in the same operation costs 7.50 euros.
