Kanzem referendum
On Sunday, November 9, 2025, a referendum will be held in the municipality of Kanzem to vote on the following question: “Should the “Old School Kanzem” be preserved? Yes / No.”
In accordance with the provisions of Section 17a, Paragraph 6 of the Municipal Code for Rhineland-Palatinate, the reasons given by the applicants and the opinion of the municipal authorities are set out below:
Applicants’ opinion:
The “Old School” in Kanzem is a village-defining building that is worth preserving.
Opinion of the local council:
Demolition eliminates renovation and maintenance costs for the building; the land remains municipal property.
