Modernization of the Konz-Karthaus train station?
Deutsche Bahn has been planning the modernization of the Karthaus train station for many years. Now, the plans are apparently becoming more concrete.
From January 26, 2026 to and including February 25, 2026, the planning documents will be publicly available online at: https://lbm.rlp.de/themen/baurecht/planfeststellung-von-eisen-strassen-und-seilbahnen/ under “current planning approval procedures”, there under DB procedures, under “Konz-Karthaus”.
A statement from the LBM reads: “Anyone whose interests are affected by the project may raise objections to the plan no later than two weeks after the expiry of the above-mentioned deadline, i.e., by March 11, 2026, stating their first and last name and address.”
The town of Konz criticized the initial plans almost ten years ago, after the project was first presented, because, among other things, it lacked accessibility. Around 800 people signed a corresponding petition.
The extent to which the criticisms have been taken into account in the current planning is not yet known to the administration and will be examined after the documents are published.
