Final construction phase for the Konz-Könen bypass begins

New road surface, new water pipes, and accessible bus stops: The majority of the construction work for the renovation of the main road through Konz-Könen is nearing completion. The paving of the second construction phase is imminent. It is expected to take place at the end of February/beginning of March; the exact date depends on the weather and temperatures.

The third and final construction phase will then begin, scheduled for completion in the summer. This third phase covers the area between Charnystraße and the first intersection with Valentinstraße (see illustration).

In addition to the road resurfacing, the bus stops in this section will also be modernized and made accessible. Furthermore, Saar-Mosel-Werke will renew water pipes and some house connections.

The construction work will be carried out under a full road closure to ensure a faster progress. Residents will generally be able to access their properties by car, and always on foot.

The already completed sections of the road project will be open to traffic again when the third construction phase begins. Access to Charnystraße from/to Tawern will also remain possible.

For bus route 290, the replacement bus stops in the street “Wolfsfeld” and “Brunnenstraße” corner of “Hohlweg” will remain in operation.
