Noise barriers along the railway line – yes or no?

Less railway noise for residents of Konz city center and Karthaus: As part of the program "Noise Remediation on Existing Federal Railway Lines", Deutsche Bahn and the federal government offer various noise protection measures – including noise barriers, if these are desired locally.

Last year, Deutsche Bahn publicly presented the options for Konz. The city council is now scheduled to vote on them in the coming months.

The administration would like to inform citizens in advance about the exact locations of the potential noise barriers, as well as their advantages and disadvantages. Therefore, it is hosting two information sessions:

• February 2, 2026, 6:00 PM, Concert-Doctor-Citizens' Hall
  (Wiltinger Straße 10–12, Konz)
  Event for the noise barriers in the area of Konz town center between Bahnhofstraße and Alter Römerstraße.
• February 9, 2026, 6:00 PM, Parish Hall of the Evangelical Church of Karthaus
  (Karthäuser Straße 151, Konz)
  Event for the noise barriers between Karthäuser Straße and Irminenstraße.

The date for an additional planned event in Filzen-Hamm will be announced later.
