Renovation of the Konz-Könen town centre: Next construction phase begins

The renovation of the Konz-Könen town center is progressing well. The second construction phase between the Pferdemarkt junction and Charnystraße will begin as planned on October 20, 2025.

For the duration of the renovation, this section of the road will be completely closed. This also applies to the Pferdemarkt turnoff, which was still usable during the first construction phase. Access to Charnystraße, and thus to the daycare center, school, and community center, will remain possible from the Konz direction.

The newly completed section of the town center between Brunnenstraße and the town exit toward Tawern will be reopened to local traffic starting October 20. Long-distance traffic can still use the B51 bypass. For bus route 290, the replacement stops on Wolfsfeld and Brunnenstraße at the corner of Hohlweg will remain in operation.

For residents in the affected area, some properties are accessible by car, but all are within walking distance. Emergency services have access at all times. Garbage cans can be placed on the street during the collection dates, as usual.

The renovation of the Konz-Könen town center, including the construction of accessible bus stops, will cost a total of approximately €1.3 million. In addition, the Konz Municipal Utility Company (Verbandsgemeindewerke Konz AöR) is investing almost €980,000 in sewer construction and the water supply.

The third and final construction phase up to Valentinstraße, which begins next year, is scheduled to be completed by summer 2026.
