Regional partnerships invite you to a joint democracy conference

On Friday, November 28th, the regional partnerships of Konz, Hermeskeil-Ruwer, Saarburg-Kell, Schweich, and Trier invite you to the Regional Democracy Conference from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the auditorium of the Angela-Merici-Gymnasium in Trier. The theme of the event is... "Digital real: Against disinformation and hate online!" .

In addition to Laura Larkas, who will also give a keynote speech on (political) communication and hate in social media, the conference will feature, among others, Dr. Christof Barth (media scholar, University of Trier, media quality and media criticism), Dr. Jörg Ukrow (deputy director of the Rhineland-Palatinate Media Authority), Senior Public Prosecutor Benjamin Gehlen (Higher Regional Court of Koblenz) and Dr. Mario Anastasiadis (media scholar, Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, with a keynote speech on AI-based detection of disinformation).
Janboris Ann-Kathrin Rätz (formerly of SWR) will moderate the evening. The event will be complemented by information tables with relevant topics, musical performances by the duo "Hennich and Hanschel," and poetry slam performances by Don Estban.

Excursion:
The "Regional Democracy Conference" format, which has been held regularly since 2021, is entering its fourth year. Following two online formats held due to the pandemic, covering the following topics... "After the crisis is before the crisis - Is our democracy competitive in times of crisis?" (2021 with journalist Katja Gloger) and "Europe: A House of Cards? – The Impact of Nationalist Movements on the EU, Using France as an Example" (In 2022, among others with the Vice-President of the European Parliament, Dr. Katarina Barley), the event in 2023 was entitled "Schengen lives! Europe: yesterday - today - tomorrow" and took place as an in-person event - appropriately on a ship on the Moselle.
