New speed displays promote more responsibility in road traffic
New speed display signs are now contributing to increased road safety in Konz and Wiltingen. They were purchased with funding from Westenergie. The signs are intended to remind road users of the current speed limit and urge caution.
In Konz-Könen, the measuring device is being used near the elementary school. "This is an active way to help ensure that children are safer on their way to school," says local mayor Erhard Holbach. Another sign was installed in the town of Konz on Wiltinger Straße.

Another of these measuring devices is installed on Scharzhofstrasse in Wiltingen. "Based on the color and speed displayed, every road user can see from a distance whether they are complying with the speed limit," explained local mayor Reinhard Orth. "The data is stored anonymously and provides valuable information for further improving road safety at the respective measuring point."

An environmentally friendly solar module powers the speed displays, so they don't require their own power connections and can be deployed flexibly at different locations. Westenergie Municipal Manager Christian Nathem emphasized: "I am pleased that we have been able to implement these measures to improve road safety together with the city of Konz and the municipality of Wiltingen. In doing so, we are contributing to improving the quality and safety of the location."
