New speed displays in Wawern and Wellen
New speed display signs have now been installed in the municipalities of Wawern and Wellen, contributing to increased road safety. The new signs were funded by Westenergie. "The displays are intended to remind road users of the current speed limit and urge caution," explains Guido Wacht, mayor of the Konz municipality.
In Wawern, the sign is located on Weinbergstrasse. "Drivers can immediately see that they are within a town or village and should therefore drive 50 km/h," says Nina Haag, mayor of Wawern.

In Wellen, the sign is located on Josef-Schnuch-Straße. A speed limit of 30 km/h applies there. "There is factory traffic in this area, and many people are out and about. Therefore, it is particularly important to adhere to the speed limit," emphasizes Dietmar Haag, the mayor of Wellen.

An environmentally friendly solar panel powers the speed displays, eliminating the need for their own electrical connections and allowing for flexible deployment at various locations. Westenergie municipal manager Christian Nathem explained: “As Westenergie, we are committed to improving the quality of our locations. With these new displays, the municipality of Konz is sending a clear signal for greater road safety.”
