Sustainable future: Information event on municipal heat planning

How is heating currently provided in the Konz collective municipality, and what might it look like in the future? The municipal heat planning project, which the Konz collective municipality utility company (Verbandsgemeindewerke Konz AöR) is preparing on behalf of the Konz collective municipality, provides answers to these questions. The goal of this heat planning project is to identify options for a long-term, secure, affordable, and environmentally friendly heat supply.

For this purpose, the local conditions have been analyzed in detail over the past few months. The results will be presented at a Information event on Thursday, September 18, 2025 All interested parties are welcome to Berendsborn Primary School gymnasium (Address: Schlesierstraße 35, Konz) invited. The event begins at 6 p.m. .

First, the key aspects of municipal heating planning will be presented—including the current supply situation, potential energy sources, and prospects for the city of Konz and the local communities. Following this, an energy consultant from the Trier Consumer Advice Center will provide answers on how sustainable and affordable heating can be achieved for everyone. Citizens' questions are welcome.

To the background:

Municipal Heat Planning (KWP) is a legally mandated process for German municipalities to achieve climate-friendly heat supply by 2045. It is intended to demonstrate, based on local conditions, a path for a step-by-step transition to heat supply in the future. The Heat Planning Act contains specifications for the content and a sensible sequence of individual steps leading to the creation of a heat plan.
