Reading and reading summer awakens great joy in books

Around 1,000 children immersed themselves in the world of books at this year's Rhineland-Palatinate Reading and Reading Summer at the Konz City Library.

The children participating in the reading summer, ages 6 to 16, read a total of almost 6,850 books and then, by completing the "book checks," proved that they can not only read but also write creatively. These diligent bookworms can now collect their well-deserved certificates and prizes in recognition of their achievements.

During the reading summer, more than 2,630 books were read to the younger children. Afterwards, they painted a picture of their favorite book. For their creative participation, they received a certificate and a voucher for a scoop of ice cream.

The prize draw for the statewide raffle will take place on October 1, 2025. The children who have won a prize will be notified by the city library afterward.

The city of Konz thanks all participants for their keen interest, as well as the city library team for organizing and running the event. Special thanks go to the sponsors, whose financial support made it possible to purchase more than 1,600 new books for the reading and reading aloud summer. The children enjoyed and appreciated these books with great enthusiasm.

The city library looks forward to continuing to introduce many children to the world of books and fostering their enthusiasm for reading.
