Konz-Karthaus: Monastery Park Festival on 6 September 2025

The area surrounding the former monastery in Karthaus is now the social center of Karthaus. It is home to the office of the German Red Cross (DRK) district association, the DRK serviced housing for seniors and the DRK senior center, the St. Johann elementary school, and the St. Johann integrated daycare center. At the heart of the site lies the former "Karthaus Monastery," which will undergo extensive renovation in the coming months and, once completed, will become a key pillar of Konz's social infrastructure. The Konz Adult Education Center and the Konz Youth Network, among others, will move into the building as users and bring it to life with events and programs.

On Saturday, September 6th, starting at 2:30 p.m., the Karthaus district office, in cooperation with the office of the German Red Cross (DRK) district association and the senior citizens' center of the German Red Cross (DRK) state association, is organizing the third edition of the Monastery Park Festival. As with previous editions, many groups, institutions, and clubs based in and around the monastery will participate with food and drink stands, informational offerings, hands-on activities, and a diverse stage program. Among other things, a girls' soccer tournament is planned, there will be a teddy bear clinic, games for children, bread from the wood-fired oven, ice cream, waffles, coffee and cake, and a varied stage program with dance and music performances.

The German Red Cross (DRK) facilities will also offer information booths where they will provide information about their services and offerings. The established "Karthäuser Children's Flea Market" will also be part of the supporting program. Small vendors who would like to participate in the children's flea market should register in advance with district manager Dominik Schnith at the district office (phone: +49 6501 945 82 52 or email: d.schnith@junetko.de).

The festival is also intended to provide an opportunity for people to get to know each other and meet each other, thus contributing to the continued development of the coexistence of the many actors in Karthaus, and especially in the monastery grounds, into a sense of togetherness.
