The former full-time councilor of the district, Guido Wacht, and the first councilor of the city, Bernhard Marx, thanked Joachim Weber for his many years of service to the city and the municipality. As a farewell, a tree will be planted for him in Konz's Maierspark. A dedication plaque for this tree was presented to the former mayor as a symbolic gift that evening.
Joachim Weber thanked everyone – not only for the farewell gift, but also his companions, supporters, councillors and administrative staff for the good cooperation during the 17 years he worked at the town hall – initially as a full-time councillor of the Konz municipality, and from 2018 onwards as mayor of the town and the district.
The new mayor was then officially appointed, sworn in, and sworn in. Guido Wacht received the majority of votes in the mayoral election on September 14, 2025. In the Verbandsgemeinde (collective municipality), 71.4 percent of eligible voters voted for him. In the city of Konz, he won with 69.6 percent of the vote.

In his inauguration speech, he thanked the citizens for this: "With a great vote of confidence, I will be able to work for the good of our community in the coming years. This trust is both an incentive and an obligation for me."
He emphasized, among other things, the importance of volunteer work and friendly relations with neighboring municipalities, stressing: "I want to be an approachable, non-partisan, convincing, and energetic mayor for the people of the city and the municipality. I will continue to build on the foundation laid by my predecessors. With our administration, I want to be an open, trustworthy partner – for citizens, for trade, industry, commerce, for associations, and for the municipal committees."
