Rehabilitation of the federal highway 51 between Ayl and Tobiashaus/Wawern
The Trier State Office for Mobility (LBM) announces that construction work for the renovation of Federal Highway 51, between Tobiashaus and Ayl, over a total length of approximately 1.5 km, will begin on Monday, June 16, 2025.
The construction project involves the renewal of the damaged upper asphalt layers, including associated peripheral and ancillary work.
Construction work is expected to last until June 30, 2025.
Due to the narrow road widths, the work can only be carried out under full closure to protect road users and construction site personnel and in accordance with nationwide binding regulations.
Further information on construction site management can be found on the LBM website at the following link:

The traffic volume on the B51 in the relevant section is approximately 8,790 vehicles/24h, with a heavy goods vehicle share of 6.5%.
The traffic diversion leads from Saarburg via the B51 before Ayl to the K130 via the K131 and L137 through Wawern to the B51 towards Trier, and in the opposite direction accordingly.
For further information and details on the diversion route, please refer to the RLP Mobility Atlas at mobilitaetsatlas.de (“Activate construction site diversions” in the side menu under “Settings”).
Road users are asked to use the signposted diversions.
The Federal Republic of Germany is covering the costs, with a total investment volume of approximately EUR 458,000. The contractor is Kohl Bau GmbH & Co. KG, Irrel.
The LBM Trier thanks the affected road users for their patience and understanding.
