Konz-Könen celebrates 55th anniversary of partnership with Charny

From June 7-9, 2025 (Pentecost), the Konz-Könen district will celebrate the 55th anniversary of its partnership with the French municipality of Charny, which began in 1970. Guests are expected on Saturday afternoon. The table tennis department of FC Könen has organized a small tournament in the community center.

The gala evening begins on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the Könen sports and multi-purpose hall. The ceremonial signing of the anniversary certificate and the honoring of deserving supporters of the partnership will be accompanied by the music societies from Könen and Charny and the choir from Charny.

All citizens and anyone interested in the partnership are cordially invited to the gala evening.

The significance of German-French friendship is currently of paramount importance in Europe. Many attendees at the ceremony expressed their special interest in and appreciation for our friendly partnership with Charny. Mayor Holbach would be delighted to welcome many participants. On Sunday, sightseeing tours of Saarburg are planned. On Monday, following the Pentecost High Mass, with the participation of the Könen Church Choir, a wreath-laying ceremony at the memorial in the cemetery is planned, with the participation of the music clubs and fire departments from Könen and Charny. The guests from Charny will say their goodbyes on Monday afternoon.
