No vending machine without a building permit in Konz-Könen
The city of Konz would like to correct a false claim on social media regarding a food vending machine in Könz-Könen. Regarding the facts:
In Konz-Könen, a downtown retailer had installed a vending machine in recent weeks selling products from the main store. The Konz district administration has ordered the operator to dismantle the vending machine.
The operator now falsely claims on Facebook that the reason for this is competition with neighboring supermarkets or discount stores. However, this is not the case.
The removal was ordered because the vending machine lacked a building permit. A corresponding application is required by law if the vending machine is not located directly at the retail store. However, in this case, no building permit was submitted.
There are no generally applicable legal regulations governing the installation and approval of vending machines. Each case is examined on a case-by-case basis. Depending on the area, there may be reasons for not granting a permit. For example, the advertising regulations for downtown Konz prohibit vending machines unless they are located in a building or in shop entrances, courtyard entrances, or passageways.
The administration therefore recommends that all future vending machine operators contact the administration in advance. Staff will be available to provide advice and assistance.
