New square at the evangelical church - inauguration as part of the district festival in Konz-Karthaus

The construction measures were already completed in October - but due to the corona pandemic, the new square at the evangelical church could only be officially opened now. The official inauguration took place on Sunday as part of the Karthaus district festival.

The square was redesigned as part of the "Social City of Konz-Karthaus" program. The aim was to create a new focal point in the elongated Konz-Karthaus district that offers a high quality of stay. The square should develop into a meeting place. Like last weekend, it can be used for the district festival and other events. Connection points for electricity will make work easier for organizers in the future.
"The redesign of the square was really successful," says Mayor Joachim Weber and emphasizes the good cooperation with Caritas and the church. Because the realization of the project in its entirety was only possible because the church had demolished the old vicarage and converted the community center. In addition, Caritas had built a new social center.

Of course, the square was not the only measure in the "Social City of Konz-Karthaus" program that could be implemented over the years. For example, another passage was broken into the monastery wall so that citizens can get to the day care center, elementary school, community center or senior citizens’ center more easily and safely. Furthermore, the playground "Johannisstraße" and the area along the banks of the Moselle could be renewed. And Brunoplatz has been modernized with charging stations for e-bikes and electric cars.
