On Saturday, March 5th, 2022, the well-known Irish pianist Finghin Collins will be a guest in the ballroom of the Konz-Karthaus monastery. The piano evening starts at 8:00 p.m.

Born in Dublin in 1977, the pianist Finghin Collins, who became a student of John O'Conor at the Royal Irish Academy of Music at the age of six, is considered one of the most successful pianists of our time. In June 1999 he completed his studies with the concert exam in Dublin; from 1999 to 2002 he excelled as a student in Dominique Merlet's "Classe de Virtuosité" at the Conservatoire de Musique in Geneva; in June 2002 he was awarded a "Premier Prix avec distinction".

In September 1999, Finghin Collins finally won first prize in the Clara Haskil Piano Competition in Vevey, which was his final international breakthrough. Since then Finghin Collins has been invited as a soloist by the best orchestras in the world. He has appeared as a guest soloist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Houston Symphony Orchestra, the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the German State Philharmonic Rhineland-Palatinate, among others , the SWR Radio Symphony Orchestra Stuttgart, the Cologne Radio Orchestra, the Philharmonic Orchestra Rotterdam, the Budapest Festival Orchestra, the Verbier Festival Orchestra, the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, the Orchester de la Suisse Romande, the Gulbenkian Orchestra Lisbon and the Orchester de Chambre de Lausanne on; he has worked under conductors such as Frans Brüggen, Myung-Whun Chung, Christoph Eschenbach, Hans Graf, Emmanuel Krivine, Hannu Lintu, Nicholas McGegan, Gianandrea Noseda, Sakari Oramo, Tadaaki Otaka, Heinrich Schiff, Vassily Sinaisky, Leonard Slatkin and Gábor Tákacs-Nagy .

Finghin Collins performs regularly in the most important music centers worldwide. His engagements to date have included multiple solo performances at London's Wigmore Hall, his debut at Dublin's National Concert Hall, two extensive tours in Korea with cellist Han-Na Chang and two highly successful performances at the BBC Proms London.

Finghin Collins held the position of Associate Artist of the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra (Ireland) from 2010 to 2013. During this time he made it his mission to perform the complete piano concertos of Mozart and Beethoven. This position also included the possibility of conducting from the grand piano, the premiere of a specially dedicated piece by the Irish singer Deirdre Gribbin, and chamber music projects with members of the orchestra.

Finghin Collins has been Artistic Director of the New Ross Piano Festival since its inception in 2006. In January 2013 he was appointed Artistic Director of the Music for Galway concert series. In 2020, Music for Galway will be responsible for the entire classical music program for GALWAY 2020 - European Capital of Culture. Within this framework, a large-scale cello festival CELLISSIMO, taking place every three years, will take place for the first time.

The concert will take place on Saturday, March 5th, 2022 at 8:00 p.m. in the ballroom of the Konz-Karthaus monastery.
