Cooperation for operation of street lighting extended

The municipalities of the Konz collective municipality will continue to work with Westenergie AG on the operation and modernization of street lighting. Representatives of the collective municipality and the municipalities met with representatives of Westenergie in Konz to symbolically sign the extension of the relevant contracts. The service agreements entitled "Light & Service" were extended for a further ten years until December 31, 2035.

"We will be able to significantly reduce energy requirements in the coming years by using energy-saving technology. This cost saving has a positive effect and not only relieves the burden on municipal budgets, but is also good for our environment and climate protection," explained Joachim Weber, Mayor of the Konz municipality.

Westenergie municipal manager Christian Nathem added: "Westenergie has been a reliable partner of the municipalities in the Konz collective municipality in the area of street lighting for many years. We are pleased that we can continue this successful cooperation in the future."

The area of the Konz municipality includes around 4,900 street lights. The agreement includes, among other things, the planning for modernization, the construction and operation of street lights, the elimination of faults and the maintenance of the systems.
