“Reading Alarm” from the Konz City Library sets new records

Konz, September 27, 2023

With the reading and reading summer 2023, the Konz City Library has exceeded its own participant record from last year. Around 640 children took part in the “Reading Summer”. And the new “Reading Summer” campaign also had a very successful start in Konz: more than 260 children had stories read to them by their parents, grandparents or siblings.

A total of exactly 900 children “stormed” the Konz city library and read more than 8,200 books together.

There was or is a reward for those who read or had at least three books read to them. The reading summer children already received a certificate and a scoop of ice cream. The reading summer children can now pick up their certificate and a prize at the city library during opening hours.

Part of the campaign is also a nationwide raffle. The associated rating and club cards were sent in; Winners will be notified after the drawing on October 13, 2023.

Mayor Joachim Weber thanks the city of Konz once again to the sponsors for the monetary and material donations: the “Future in Trier-Saarburg” foundation, the Volksbank Trier, the Sparkasse Trier, the Lions Club Saarburg, the Elenz company in Konz , at the Kolibri bookstore in Konz, at “Bücher Volk” in Saarburg and “Der kleine Buchfink” in Trier. Thanks also to the schools and daycare centers for their support in promoting the campaigns.

The Reading and Reading Summer Rhineland-Palatinate 2023 took place from July 10th to September 10th for the age group 6 - 16, with the aim of inspiring and motivating children and young people to read outside of school.
