Village renewal: re-planning of the historic town centre

The municipality of Wiltingen has valuable historical and regionally typical buildings in the local area. In contrast to the new development areas, these areas are not regulated by development plans, so that an assessment according to § 34 BauGB applies here. Projects have to fit in here in terms of type and measure, but there is little scope for the community to exert influence, e.g. with regard to the roof design. It is therefore possible that undesirable urban developments will occur.

The municipality would therefore like to create specifications for these previously unplanned areas with a working group and make few but concise specifications regarding, for example, construction methods, storey counts, roof shapes, greenery or facade colors and thus specify a certain design framework.

The preparation of the development plan should be accompanied by intensive public relations work, and in particular the funding opportunities for private village renewal across the state should be pointed out.

The aim is to secure and improve the existing good structural quality in Wiltingen, to favor private investments with the grants and to work out the positive aspects even better for both citizens and tourists.

Design of the village square in the municipality of Wiltingen 2014-2015

The first preliminary considerations for the design of the village square go back to 2007. On the occasion of the inspection as part of the competition Our village has a future in 2012, the need for action on the village square was pointed out again. An application for funding for village renewal was made at short notice.

The course was built in 2014-2015 with support from the state (€76,250). The construction time was about 8 months. In total, costs of €223,000 were incurred here. In addition to the artistic upgrade, the increased quality of life and the use as a fairground, it was important to the community to redesign the stationary traffic. The planning concept was drawn up and supervised by the Fischer Landscape Planning office in Trier.

Adjoining areas of the fire brigade were also designed in order to achieve a uniform image. In the meantime, the square has become the real center of the village, inviting you to stay.
