T’arabBach in Konz: When Arabic melodies meet classical music
The city of Konz invites you on Friday, September 25, 2026 , to a special musical evening at the Oberemmel Community Center one. The quartet T'arabBach presented from 7:30 p.m. a concert that combines the musical traditions of the Orient and the Occident.
With oud, accordion, cello, and percussion, the four musicians create a captivating soundscape blending Arabic melodies, European Baroque music, and their own compositions. Inspired by Johann Sebastian Bach and the Arabic term "T'arab," which describes the profound emotional impact of music, they create a vibrant dialogue between cultures, full of expression and emotion.
The ensemble includes Saif Al-Khayyat (oud), who studied traditional Arabic music in Baghdad and has lived in Germany for more than 20 years, Theo Van Der Poel (accordion) and Angela Simons (cello) from the classical European music field, as well as the percussionist Ahmad Abu Siam from Damascus.
The audience can look forward to an intense, atmospheric journey through diverse musical worlds. T’arabBach impressively demonstrates how music can transcend cultural boundaries and connect people.
