The fire department fleet of the VG Konz is being modernized.
The vehicles and equipment of the volunteer fire brigades in the municipality of Konz are being further modernized.
This summer, four replacement vehicles were delivered. Two multi-purpose vehicles for transporting personnel, supplying equipment, and towing trailers or rescue boats are now in service with the volunteer fire departments of Wellen and Filzen-Hamm. A combined rescue and firefighting vehicle is stationed with the volunteer fire department of Pellingen. In addition to standard firefighting equipment, it is equipped with hydraulic rescue tools (jaws of life and spreaders) for traffic accidents, generators, and lighting equipment. The new pumper truck with a water tank is being used by the volunteer fire department of Krettnach-Obermennig.
Also new is a sandbag filling machine with a trailer chassis, specifically designed for flood protection and heavy rainfall events. It can fill 2400 sandbags per hour and is ready for use in just a few minutes.
Mayor Guido Wacht explains: “The safety of our citizens is our highest priority. With these new acquisitions, we are making a targeted investment in the operational readiness of our fire departments and in disaster relief. This modernization not only strengthens our capabilities in the event of fires and accidents, but also improves our preparedness for floods and heavy rain events. The cost of approximately €1.1 million is therefore an important investment in the safety of the people in the Konz municipality. Even though financing this is not easy given the tight municipal budgets, the council and the political bodies of the municipality are aware of their responsibility.”
