Konz City Council: Decision on noise barriers
The Konz city council will decide on the possible construction of noise barriers along railway tracks at its meeting on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.
The federal government would finance this measure as part of a noise abatement program. Deutsche Bahn has determined through preliminary planning which sections of track within the city limits can be fitted with noise barriers.
Following several public information events and discussions in the city's building committee and local advisory boards, the city council is now set to decide on the construction of the walls. in detail to be decided.
You can find an overview of all possible noise barriers in the city of Konz here. HERE. The walls are marked on the map as green lines. Clicking on the corresponding noise barrier displays its name (e.g., LSW 13), height, and total length.
Should the city council decide against a noise barrier, residential buildings classified as emission points with noise limit exceedances are eligible for subsidies of 75% for passive noise protection measures. Even with the construction of noise barriers, there are residential buildings where the limit values would still be exceeded, and therefore passive measures would still be eligible for funding.
