Thinking about the city center of Konz together
What should the town center of Konz look like in 2040? What ideas do adults, children, young people, as well as local clubs and organizations have for the future of the town? The model project addressed these questions. "City Center Impulses" in the period from spring 2025 to spring 2026 . Ideas were collected and discussed as part of action days with interactive and low-threshold dialogue opportunities for all age groups, a "perspectives workshop" and an online survey.
The "City + Trade" office assisted the city of Konz in developing an integrated future concept for its city center. The goal was to incorporate as many perspectives as possible and to develop visions for the future of Konz's city center together with the city's residents.
All ideas and contributions collected during the campaign period were incorporated into the concept work and helped to design a city center image that is not only well-planned but also supported by the community.
As part of the project, temporary seating The new features were tested at Saar-Mosel-Platz and were well-received by passersby. These positive experiences will be incorporated into future urban design as soon as possible.
Background:
With the model project “Inner City Impulses” The state of Rhineland-Palatinate provides funding to support cities in developing creative and individual solutions to the challenges of structural change in their inner cities. Up to 90 percent of the costs of the measures can be covered – funding is available for concepts, participation processes, urban green projects, digitalization strategies, and small-scale measures with a signaling effect, among others.
