St. Rochus Wine Festival Nittel 2026
When the center of Nittel transforms into a festival mile in mid-August, it's time for the St. Rochus Wine Festival. Friday, August 21, to Monday, August 24, 2026 Guests at the largest wine festival on the Upper Moselle can expect a diverse program with regional wines, music, culinary delights and numerous highlights for the whole family.
The municipality of Nittel, together with winegrowers, clubs, and musicians, invites everyone to celebrate and linger for four days. Visitors can look forward to the special atmosphere that has made the wine festival a fixture on the region's event calendar for many years.
One of the highlights of this year's program is the Segway tour through the Nittel vineyards, which starts at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Following its successful premiere two years ago, this popular offering returns, allowing participants to discover the Upper Moselle wine region from a completely new perspective. Also new this year: on Sunday midday and Sunday afternoon, friendly music clubs will provide top-notch entertainment on the festival grounds. These include the Mosellandkapelle 1907 Wincheringen, the Musikverein 1908 Irsch, and the Musikverein 1927 Bombogen.
Traditional highlights of the wine festival include the proclamation of the Saar-Obermosel wine queens on Saturday evening and the popular German-Luxembourg wine event on Sunday, which impressively underscores the close ties between the border region. From 12:30 pm to 9:00 pm on Sunday, there is a free shuttle boat service, allowing guests to travel to Machtum for wine tasting.
Even the youngest visitors won't be left out: On Monday afternoon, the festival grounds will once again transform into a meeting place for families. Various games and activities organized by the Nittel sports club will provide fun and entertainment for the children.
The wine festival can be reached by public transport or taxi. The Moselle Valley Railway connects Trier and Nittel hourly. Additionally, an extra regional train will run at 0:31 on Saturday night/Sunday morning, stopping at all stations in the direction of Trier. Furthermore, Taxi Saarburg will operate a taxi rank on the B419, staffed from 10 pm to 1 am Friday through Sunday, and from 8 pm to 11 pm on Monday.
Medical support for the event is provided by the German Red Cross and the Nittel Volunteer Fire Department. Emergency personnel will be stationed at the first aid station on the corner of Weinstraße and B419 throughout the wine festival and will be readily available to visitors if needed.
The St. Rochus Wine Festival stands for hospitality, conviviality, and the living wine tradition of the Upper Moselle. The organizers look forward to welcoming numerous guests from the region as well as from neighboring Luxembourg.
