Annual exercise of the youth fire brigades in Wellen

The youth fire brigades of the Konz municipality demonstrated their skills at their annual exercise in Wellen. Numerous spectators watched the training scenario on the TKDZ grounds on Saturday morning.

As early as 11 a.m., the sirens of emergency vehicles could be heard in and around Wellen. The young members of the various youth fire brigades were dispatched to the training site, where a fire was simulated in an industrial complex. The young firefighters laid hoses, established a water supply from the Moselle River, and fought the fire with multiple jets of water.

Following the event, youth fire brigade spokesman Boris Krebs, deputy fire chief Florian Haas and the first deputy mayor of the VG Konz Marcel Dawen praised the performance shown and the good cooperation of all participating youth fire brigades.

The youth fire brigades from Tawern, Nittel, Wellen, the city of Konz, Könen, Kanzem, Oberemmel, Niedermennig, Pellingen, Temmels and Wiltingen participated in the exercise.

Following the exercise, several former youth leaders were also bid farewell. Furthermore, Marco Hengel and Sascha Hoffmann received the Silver Badge of Honor from the Youth Fire Brigade. Dieter Schellen was honored with the Badge of Honor, the highest award of the Youth Fire Brigade, in recognition of his service.
