Successful reading and storytelling summer 2026 in Konz
The Rhineland-Palatinate Summer Reading and Storytelling Program at the Konz City Library has successfully concluded, once again proving how much fun reading can be. This year, more than 850 children and young people eagerly immersed themselves in the world of books – whether through story time, reading on their own, or creatively engaging with the stories.
The children participating in the Summer Reading Program in 2026 devoured a total of 6,557 books and documented their reading with imaginative pictures, many of which were displayed and admired. During the Summer Reading Program, 2,147 books were read aloud, fostering language and listening skills. Even the younger children created drawings inspired by the books.
All participants received a certificate; in addition, there were vouchers and small surprise prizes – a token of appreciation for their commitment, imagination, and love of reading. The nationwide drawing for further prizes is expected to take place on October 1, 2026; winners will be notified afterward.
The city of Konz thanks the entire team at the city library for organizing and carrying out the popular summer program, as well as the sponsors: the Nikolaus Koch Foundation, the Reh Foundation, the Trier Saarburg Future Foundation, Volksbank Trier Eifel, Sparkasse Trier, the Lions Club Saarburg, the Elenz company, and the Rhineland-Palatinate State Library Center (LBZ Rheinland-Pfalz). Thanks to this support, almost 1,800 new books were purchased, much to the delight of children and families alike.
Even after the move to the interim location in administration building II (Am Markt 11, 1st floor), the Konz city library will remain a meeting place with a regular program of events related to reading, listening and writing.
