LBM: Expansion of the L138 between Niedermennig and Konz
The State Mobility Authority (LBM) Trier announces that On Thursday, September 10, 2026, the expansion of state road 138 between Niedermennig and Konz will begin. Construction will begin. The project is a state-funded undertaking of Rhineland-Palatinate and will cover a length of approximately 3.1 km.
The road resurfacing costs amount to approximately €1.1 million and are being borne by the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The construction project is being financed by funds from the Federal Republic of Germany's special fund for infrastructure and climate neutrality. The contractor is dittgen Bauunternehmen GmbH from Schmelz.
The construction project is divided into two consecutive phases. Due to the narrow road widths and the necessary excavation work, the work can only be carried out under a full road closure to protect road users and construction personnel, and in accordance with nationwide regulations.
The upcoming first construction phase will take place between Niedermennig and the junction of the district road 136 to and from Kommlingen over a construction length of approximately 900 m in a construction period of approximately 2 weeks.
The second section will follow immediately adjacent to the first construction phase. This section extends from the junction with K136 to just before the village of Konz, covering a length of approximately 2,200 meters and taking about four weeks to complete.
The existing road cross-section is reinforced by replacing existing asphalt layers.
In addition, as part of the project, the shoulders on both sides will be reconstructed, farm tracks will be adapted to the new elevations, and the roadside drainage facilities such as culverts, manholes and swales will be partially renewed.
A detour route will be set up.
The detour is via the L138 to Nieder-/ Obermennig and Krettnach - L139 - B268 – B051 – K134 - Konz and L138 and vice versa.
