Saar-Obermosel Tourism: New digital information point
Saar-Obermosel-Touristik is expanding its tourist information services with a modern service element: A digital information kiosk has now been installed on the exterior facade of the tourist information office in Konz on Saarstraße.
“The kiosk offers convenient access to up-to-date tourist information and offers around the clock – regardless of opening hours,” explains Stefanie Koch, Managing Director of Saar-Obermosel-Touristik. “The 49-inch (124.5 cm) LED touchscreen clearly displays daily events, restaurants in Konz and the surrounding region with opening hours and menus, wineries, attractions, leisure activities, and accommodation options.”

The mayor of the municipality of Konz, Guido Wacht, welcomes the new service: “With the digital information kiosk, we are creating a modern and easily accessible information service directly in public spaces. This not only strengthens tourism, but is also a great opportunity for locals to continually rediscover the diverse range of leisure activities available in our region.”
A particular advantage of the information kiosk lies in its mobile usability: all content can be conveniently transferred to a smartphone via QR code. Interested users can easily save recommendations and access them flexibly at a later time – ideal for individual planning on-site or on the go.
Active holidaymakers also benefit from the new digital service. Cyclists and hikers can find suitable tour suggestions at the information kiosk, including map excerpts and detailed descriptions, which can also be accessed via QR code.
In the coming weeks, another digital information kiosk is planned to be installed in Saarburg – at the new location of Saar-Obermosel Tourism in the former "On the Green" restaurant building in the town center. This will make the information available to visitors and locals there around the clock.
Jürgen Dixius, mayor of the Saarburg-Kell municipality and chairman of Saar-Obermosel Tourism, emphasizes the importance of the project: “Especially for a region heavily reliant on tourism like ours, readily available and user-friendly information is a great asset. The new information kiosk is an important step towards a modern and service-oriented approach to guest services and perfectly complements personal consultations.”
The project was supported by the European LEADER program with funding of approximately 13,500 euros.
