During major fire department operations, several units often work simultaneously – sometimes even at different locations. To make the coordination of these forces even more efficient in the future, the municipality of Konz has comprehensively modernized the technology in its fire department command center.

The new radio-based control technology makes it possible to monitor multiple operational channels simultaneously. This allows firefighters and equipment to be deployed and controlled much more precisely. The result: faster response times and a further increase in the quality of operational procedures.

Furthermore, the new technology is more user-friendly than before: its simple operation makes it easier for staff to learn. In addition, optimized voice quality ensures that radio messages are transmitted more clearly and with less interference – thus minimizing misunderstandings.

Another advantage is the increased reliability of the system. For example, functionality is guaranteed even in the event of a power outage; the fire department's operational readiness is therefore ensured at all times.

“With the new technology, we are creating optimal conditions for our emergency services and thus for the safety of the people in our municipality,” emphasizes Mayor Guido Wacht.

“Especially during operations, every second counts, and reliable communication enables our firefighters to act faster and more precisely. That's why it was important for us to invest specifically here,” adds Marcel Dawen, the full-time deputy mayor of the VG Konz.

The modernization costs amount to 52,000 euros.
