Summer Reading and Storytelling 2026 at the Konz City Library

Reading, being read to, and getting creative: The starting signal for this year's [event/program] will be given on June 15, 2026, at the Konz City Library. Reading and Storytelling Summer in Rhineland-Palatinate The successful nationwide reading promotion campaign, which runs until August 16th, has been a fixture of the city library's summer program for many years. Last year, around 1000 children immersed themselves in the world of books.

This year, the Konz city library welcomes participants for the first time at its new location in administration building II, Am Markt 11. Around 1300 new books await the children, ready to be read or read to.

Participation in both events is free. Registration is possible from June 1st, 2026, directly at the Konz City Library.

Children and young people aged six to 16 can participate in the summer reading program, while the summer reading program is aimed at children from the age of two. After registering, participants have the opportunity to borrow current children's and young adult books exclusively and free of charge.

For every book read or read aloud, children submit a "book check" and collect stamps on their club card. Those who read or have at least three books read to them during the summer holidays will be rewarded with a certificate and a small prize. Attractive prizes also await in the nationwide raffle – including, as the grand prize, a family stay at Europa-Park Rust with its Rulantica water park.

Successful project with strong regional support

The summer reading and storytelling program has become extremely popular in Konz. Last year, the participating children read or listened to around 9,500 books together. The great enthusiasm shows how important such initiatives are for promoting literacy.

Special thanks again this year go to the sponsors who make a significant contribution to expanding the collection of current books and enabling the program in this form. This year, the Summer Reading Program was financially supported. from the Nikolaus Koch Foundation, the Reh Foundation, the Zukunft Foundation, the Volksbank, the Sparkasse, the Lions Club, the Elenz company and the LBZ Rheinlandpfalz.

The Konz city library looks forward to welcoming many children and families who love reading – and to a successful summer of reading in 2026 at the new location.
