Report lost property and ask questions
service description
If you have found or lost something, such as an ID card, keys, backpack or valuables, you can report this to the relevant lost and found office.
If you find an item worth more than €10.00, you are required to report it to the police. This report must be made immediately, i.e., as soon as possible. The report must include details of the location and time the item was found or lost, as well as a description of the item that is as precise as possible.
Whether you have lost something or are looking for something, you should provide your contact details so that you can be notified if necessary. As the finder, you may, under certain circumstances, be entitled to the found item (acquisition of ownership) or a finder's fee or reimbursement of expenses.
In case of loss, you can obtain a loss certificate for your insurance company from the lost and found office.
The lost and found office is obliged to keep found items for at least 6 months.
Animals are also considered lost property. If you have found an animal, you should contact the lost and found office and report the find. In consultation with the lost and found office, you can also hand the animal over there if necessary. It will then usually be taken to an animal shelter for further care.
Tip: In case of loss of items in vehicles or facilities of transport companies, please contact the respective passenger service directly.
