Federal Returning Officer
The Federal Returning Officer organizes and monitors the political elections and election preparations in Germany at federal level, namely the elections to the German Bundestag and the elections to the European Parliament on the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany. He and his deputy are appointed by the Federal Minister of the Interior for an indefinite period. Traditionally, the President of the Federal Statistical Office assumes the office of Federal Returning Officer.
