Before submitting a building application, a preliminary building inquiry can be submitted to request a written decision on specific aspects of the project (preliminary building permit). As an advance part of the building permit, a positive preliminary building permit is binding for the subsequent building permit procedure. The validity period of the preliminary building permit can be extended upon request.
The extension may be subject to new conditions imposed by the building authority.

You must apply for an extension in writing to the lower building authority before the expiry date of the preliminary building permit.
Competent authority
The lower building supervisory authority responsible for issuing building permits is the district administration; in independent towns and large district towns, this is the city administration or the municipal association administration if it has been assigned building supervision responsibilities (Diez and Konz municipal associations).

Cost (variable): from 60.00 euros to 750.00 euros.
What deadlines do I need to consider?
You must apply for an extension in writing to the lower building authority before the expiry date of the preliminary building permit (4 years).
