Traffic on public roads is regulated by traffic signs (VZ) and traffic facilities (VE) for reasons of safety and order, climate and environmental protection, health and urban development.

The traffic signs include, for example:

• parking ticket machines

The local road traffic authority determines where traffic signs and traffic facilities are to be installed.

If you, as a citizen, notice a place where you think a traffic sign should be placed, you can suggest it.

This could be, for example:

• Defusing of danger spots and accident black spots
• a new pedestrian crossing
• more clarity in traffic management
• Protection of children from daycare centers and schools

You can submit your proposal for the installation of a new traffic sign or traffic facility to the responsible road traffic authority. Please explain the reasons for your proposal. The road traffic authority will then consider whether to order the new traffic sign or traffic facility.
