Marriage Certificate

If you intend to get married abroad, a certificate of marital status is required from the German spouse in certain countries. You can apply for this at your place of residence.
The following documents are required for this:
- Current birth certificate or a certified copy from the birth register,
- valid identity card/passport,
- Registration certificate (if the place of residence is outside the Konz municipality),
- proof of the last marriage and its dissolution.
A short telephone inquiry at the registry office is recommended.
In order to obtain an exact list of all required documents/certificates, please inquire at the consulate of the respective country.
