Apply for educational leave

An important component of further education is educational leave, also called educational vacation in other federal states.

As an employee in Rhineland-Palatinate, you are entitled to paid time off from work if you wish to undertake further training. If you work a five-day week, you are entitled to ten working days within two consecutive calendar years (odd/even calendar years, for example 2025/2026 and 2027/2028). If you regularly work longer or shorter hours per week, your entitlement changes accordingly.

As a trainee, you are entitled to five days of educational leave per training year to participate in events, with the exception of professional development courses.
