If you want to operate an amusement arcade or a company that deals exclusively or mainly with the installation of gaming devices or the organization of other games, you need a permit.

- the organization of other games with a chance of winning or
- serves the commercial installation of entertainment games without the possibility of winning.The permit holder can be a natural or legal person. Permission is personal and space-related and must be granted before the start of the activity.
Due to the special features of each individual case, a personal or telephone consultation is recommended, in which you will be informed about the details of the application and the amount of the administration fee.
It is pointed out that the gaming hall permit does not include the permits required for the installation of gambling and merchandise gaming machines or the organization of other games with the possibility of winning, nor does it include the confirmation of the installation site.

A prerequisite for the permit is the applicant's reliability under commercial law
The rooms intended for arcade operation must be suitable in terms of their location and properties, i.e. they must comply with the police and building regulations.
Since July 1st, 2012, a gambling license for the construction and operation of a gambling hall has been part of the license according to the trade regulations and is also granted by the responsible (commercial) authority (concentration effect). The competent licensing authority involves the supervisory and service directorate and obtains their approval/approval.

- Floor plan for the operating rooms (for commercial operation of a gaming hall)

What fees apply?
The granting of a permit is subject to a fee. The amount of the fee is determined on the basis of the Rhineland-Palatinate state fee law in conjunction with the state ordinance on the fees of the economic administration authorities (special fee schedule) and the state ordinance on fees for official acts in the field of gaming.

What else should I know?
This permit is personal and property specific, so you will need an individual arcade permit even if you want to take over someone else's existing arcade. If you set up the playground equipment yourself, you will also need an installation permit in accordance with Section 33c, Paragraph 1 of the Industrial Code (GewO) and a confirmation of suitability in accordance with Section 33c, Paragraph 3 of the GewO.
