Register business

    If you wish to relocate your company's registered office within the jurisdiction of your current municipality, you must re-register your business. The same applies if you change the location of your registered office or the location of a branch or dependent office.

    If you change your business activities, you must re-register your business. This is the case, for example, if you will be offering goods or services in your business exclusively or additionally that are not customary for your registered business.

    Furthermore, you must re-register your business if your name as a business owner changes.

    The change of address must be made by the following persons or their authorized representatives:

    • In the case of sole proprietorships: by the business owner themselves
    • In the case of legal entities: by the legal representatives, this applies, for example, to limited liability companies (GmbH) and stock corporations (AG)
    • In the case of partnerships: by all partners authorized to manage the business: this applies, for example, to general partnerships (OHG), limited partnerships with shares (KG), civil law partnerships (GbR), limited liability companies & limited partnerships (GmbH & Co. KG)

    If you relocate your business to a different municipality, you must register your business at the new location. Your old location will be automatically deregistered. This is not a simple change of address.

    • They are relocating their business headquarters, a branch office, or a dependent branch within the jurisdiction of a municipality.
    • They change or expand the goods and services offered. The name of the business owner changes.

    • Completed business registration form (GewA 2)
    • Proof of identity, for example
      • Copy of ID card
      • Copy of passport
      • Registration certificate
    • Copy of the commercial register extract, if your company is registered in the commercial register
    • For cooperatives: extract from the cooperative register
    • For associations: extract from the register of associations

    Once all information and documents are complete, you will receive your confirmation of receipt.

In Rhineland-Palatinate, the local trade offices are responsible, and optionally for member companies of the IHK/HWK, the relevant chamber.

Alternatively, you can contact the Point of Single Contact in Rhineland-Palatinate. The Point of Single Contact is a public body through which you can complete all administrative procedures and formalities required to start and carry out your service activity and to have a foreign professional qualification recognised.
